I love creative people… they really inspire me to emulate them. Michelle and her son spent some awesome God-time tagging the walkways around their local campus with what she termed Terrorist Evangelism! It really charged my heart with how I could implement this Terrorist Evangeilsm in my Mormon community. I can just see it now, icthus fish swimming freely, crosses daring someone to consider…. I’m scheming of when, how, and who I could employ to join me in tagging sidewalks around here. The only thing I’m scratching my head on, is that I’m wondering if Michelle waited for a forecast with rain, and planned on that for her timing, or if it was a spur of the moment thing? hmmm… I wonder what kind of reaction people would have? God would sure love to see their suprised faces! Thanks for sharing your enthusiam for Christ Michelle! xoxo!

Thanks Monica! Actually, we had to wait 4 weekends for a day WITHOUT rain! We got a lot of planning time in. But the rain came the day after our terrorist escapades, and our messages are now long gone.
Go for it – spread the Word and make people pause! And then post your pics….

Hi! Since we’ve been in a drought, I would anticipate that terrorist evangelism would stick around a little longer here… after all, it would be hard to hose off the Message!

Maybe a new term should be created for this act…would Jesus really want us committing acts of “terrorism” when the word implies evil, horrific acts? Honestly, I find the term offensive, because I don’t think that evangelism should be equated with evil, with tragedy, etc…sorry for being so honest…just my thoughts.

Monica, though I appreciate your zeal for the Lord and am encouraged by your readily apparent faithfulness to the Word, I am discouraged that like 90% of our fellow Christians in their methods, your approach to evangelism presumes a confrontational disposition to making one hear the Word. In other words… it seems that, like so many other followers, your view of using this as a tool of evangelism predisposes a world that is entirely against us…. people that “hate” us and the message… etc. Yet, the precise error has been that we have come to view evangelism as a militancy of the faith… as our “last stand” against the evil world… when in fact, it should be our witness of JOY and LOVE… a fellowship with other human beings who, though they may not share the faith, are loved by the same Creator and Savior. Though we do live in a world that is ruled over by the Prince of the Air, we are in an equally fallen position as the rest of our neighbors… Mormon, Jew, Buddhist, and the like. To view one’s community in such segragationist terms (“my Mormon community”, though a statement of fact, separates one from the surrounding neighborhood and therefore removes you from being a vital part of it) is dangerous… because it rapidly devolves into a “world flight” exercise…. rather than the communion of faith Christ shared with ALL… ignoring all references to class and creed. While we are called to not be “of the world”, we are called to be in it… to participate and enjoy it… to LOVE as Christ loved… through loving DIALOGUE and humble service to all… regardless of what they think of the faith and the Savior. Christ loved even the sinners who turned on him… and our witness to love should reject the militancy that polarizes and divides the spectrum of Creation.

Good thought Lesa, upon reflection, you have a really good point. How about if I use the term “Evangelistic Graffitti”? Thanks for the thoughtful imput!

Michael, thanks for the broad scope you brought to light. While I meant to share this as a lighthearted way to spread the message, I humbly accept your point that participating in a dialogue with unbelievers would bring more fellowship to the message of Christ, than the alternative of evangelistic graffitti, in a passive aggressive nature.
You are also correct to say that viewing where I live with the use of the segragationist term of “Mormon community” does seperate me from them, in a way that isn’t representative of our call to love our neighbor as ourselves. I suppose in my zeal for spreading the Word and awaking the neighbors with the Good News, I too quickly relyed on the label they give themselves, in order to define the religious climate in which I reside. In my hearts sincerity, I just thought it appeared to be another way to add to the list to sow the seeds of truth into their heart for God to grow.
Thanks for sharing what’s on your heart
