Caedmon’s Call is awesome…. on the album Back Home, there is a song called “Hands of the Potter” and I find myself singing it all the time… the lyrics are amazing:
Lord if I’m the clay then I’ve been left out in the sun
Cracked and dry, like mud from the sky
Still clinging to the prodigal sunBut I’m on my way back home
Yes I’m on my way back homeInto the hands
That made the wine from the water
Into the hands
The hands of the PotterLord if I’m the clay that let your living water flow
Soften up my edges Lord
So everyone will knowThat I’m on my way back home
Yes I’m on my way back homeAnd Lord when you listen for the song of my life
Let it be, let it be, a song so sweet
Let it be, let it be, a song so sweet
Let it be, let it be, a song so sweet, let it beLord if I’m the clay then lay me down
On your spinning wheel
Shape me into something you can fill
With something realAnd I’ll be on my way back home
Yes I’m on my way back home
I love being surrendered to Him, knowing that in His infinite creativity He is shaping me daily into His heart’s picture of what He wants me to be.

Have you heard the remix of Hands of the Potter on the new Chronicles CD? It has a fun drum intro.

“The Potter” is one of my favorite ways of thinking about God, not unlike Father or Immanuel. He made each of us for a reason, spectacular or common and it is not for us to question His reasons.
Thanks for bringing God back to the front of my thoughts!

Hi Doug~ spectacular or common… so true! I just think of the vastness of His creativity, and trust in His artistic vision, and license!

when i read your post i could not help but smile! Caedmons Call really is amazing, and the lyrics to “Hands of the Potter” are great! I also find myself singing this song throughout my day. When I first got their CD i would put that song on repeat and just totally jam out. I saw them in concert once with Jars of Clay and it was soo awesome, if you ever get the chance I would highly recommend it. Aren’t we all, just like they say, “on our way back home…” ohh how I love it!
p.s know that your family and esp your son’s health are in my prayers
smiles and prayers, christine

*gasp* You’ve seen them live? Wow! I wonder if they or JoC would even come to concert in Utah? I bet they would! I also love the song on that cd called “Thousand Miles”! The chorus of So take my broken offering and make it whole, and set my feet upon the road that leads me home, let me walk as one fixed upon the goal, even though I’ve got a thousand miles to go. Pretty much every song on that cd really speaks to me, no kidding! ; ) Have a fun summer girlie!
